Vorwerks
£40.00
The Vorwerk was developed in Germany in the early 1900s by Oskar Vorwerk (yep, named after the breeder!). His goal was to create a practical, dual-purpose farm bird that was both attractive and useful.
Appearance:
- They have a striking colour pattern:
- Rich golden buff body
- Deep black head, neck, tail, and primary wing feathers
- The contrast is very bold and beautiful — it’s like a reverse Lakenvelder (which is black with white).
- They have a single upright comb, clean legs (no feathering), and an athletic, well-proportioned body.
Eggs:
- Good layers of medium-sized cream to light brown eggs.
- You can expect around 150–180 eggs per year from a healthy hen.
Size:
- They’re considered medium-sized birds.
