Silkies

Silkies are truly one of the most unique and beloved chicken breeds. Silkies are famous for their fluffy, soft feathers that feel more like silk or fur than normal feathers - this is because there feathers lack barbicels (the little hooks that usually hold feathers together), this gives them a real poofy look, 

They have black or dark blue skin, dark bones and blue earloabes! They also have FIVE toes on each foot (most chickens have four). 

Silkies are known to be extremely gentle, sweet and friendly. Their docile temperment leads them to be more like lap pets than farm chickens.
